A LANDMARK Somerset motor dealership has closed.
Blackmore Motor Company, which was based in Main Street, Walton, near Street, closed before Christmas.
Latterly a Subaru dealership and service centre, the family-owned business operated in Somerset for more than 50 years, including running Rowcliffes dealerships, including in East Reach, Taunton.
However, it is understood all remaining staff at the Walton centre were made redundant before Christmas.
The move came after Blackdown Motor Company previously closed down sites in Yeovil in July 2024, as well as its Rowcliffes dealership in Taunton, which shut in June 2023.

Disgraceful, Bought car at Rowcliffes’s, not in formed of what’s happening, went to Walton in Street Somerset. Same again not informed. Paid for a service through EMACand they returned our payments to dealer and again not informed of a thing. Dealers in liquidation and our money is lost. I wonerder what’s going on with Vauxhall, but as customers nobody cares
Should be service plan
to all those commenting saying they weren’t informed; the staff themselves found out the morning of the liquidation and had less than 4 hours to clear all their stuff. You really think they are going to call ALL of their thousands of customers to let them know they no longer have a job? Beggars belief. Sympathy with the way the services plans were handled by an OUTSIDE company, but not the staff’s fault.
