Residents evacuated from caravan site as flooding worsens

POLICE and partner agencies are supporting the evacuation of residents from a caravan site in the Thornicombe area after flooding caused water levels to rise rapidly.

North Dorset Police confirmed officers are working alongside other emergency services and local authorities to help ensure people can leave the site safely and to minimise disruption in the surrounding area.

As part of the response, police are assisting with traffic management on the A354, where conditions have led to the road being reduced to a single lane.

Motorists are being urged to take extra care when travelling through the area and to allow additional time for their journeys.

The evacuation is part of a wider multi-agency effort to respond to the ongoing impact of flooding across parts of Dorset, with emergency services continuing to monitor conditions and support affected communities.
