Power cuts in Shillingstone after blaze at industrial site

SIX fire crews and a water carrier were sent to a blaze in Shillingstone last night (October 31).

The incident, at an industrial premises, was reported at just after 6pm, saw firefighters on the scene through the night, with some problems caused on village roads – and to power supplies.

“We are working with the electricity board (SSE) at this incident,” a Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“The fire has caused some power disruption to the village of Shillingstone, we apologise for the inconvenience. We are working hard with SSE to ensure power is restored as quickly as possible.”

Power was understood to have been restored by around 10pm, with firefighters damping down the site this morning.
