A POPULAR Spetisbury venue has closed down “due to the financial climate” after 10 years.

The Shack, at Clapcotts Farm, made the announcement on social media, prompting an outpouring of sadness from customers.

“It is with great sadness that due to the financial climate we are forced to announce the closure of The Shack as of Saturday, April 12,” a statement from Shaun, Marcia and Toby said.

“We would like to thank all of our suppliers, many of whom have been with us from the very start.

“We would also like to thank all of our staff who have all played a part in this journey, many of whom we now call friends.

“We would also like to give all our customers a huge thank you, who have made the last 10 years an amazing journey, making many happy memories along the way.

“It’s been a blast.”

The Shack was a bar and restaurant operating on the farm grounds at Spetisbury, near Blandford.

Customers reacted with sadness to the news, with one writing: “Thank you for the lovely ice creams and excellent beers. Such sad news.”

Another said: “Really sad news. We love popping in after dog walks for brunch, coffee, cake and cider; you will be missed. Wishing you all the best for the future.”
