Police launch appeal after Shaftesbury dog attack

POLICE are appealing for a dog owner to “do the right thing” and make themselves known to the force after a dog attacked another dog in Shaftesbury last month.

A couple were approached by a bull terrier-type dog when walking their Labrador in a field in the Long Bottom area at around 4pm on March 23.

The bull terrier-type dog proceeded to attack the Labrador, police said, and the victim was bitten on his hand when trying to protect his Labrador from the attack.

The Labrador suffered an injury to its ear which required veterinary treatment.

A man and woman who were with the bull terrier-type dog apologised after the attack and left a number – but the victim received no response when they called.

Those with information that could help or anyone that witnessed the incident are asked to get in touch with police on 101 using reference number 55250040656.
