Police issue Christmas warning to parents over rising anti-social behaviour

POLICE in North and East Dorset are carrying out high-visibility day and night foot patrols to tackle youth anti-social behaviour (ASB).

Officers say that heading into the festive period residents will see “smiling and friendly faces” of neighbourhood policing teams out and about.

A statement from North and East Dorset Police said: “With schools now closed for the holidays, we know more young people will be out enjoying themselves.

“Having fun and getting into the festive spirit is absolutely encouraged, however, this can sometimes lead to an increase in reports of ASB.

“We’d love for children and young people to come and say hello if they see us – some of us may even have stickers to give out!

“But parents and carers, please do ask yourselves: do you know where your children are and what they’re up to?

“Any young person identified as being involved in ASB may be entered into the Community Consequences partnership scheme.

“Parents or guardians will be informed, and where appropriate, young people may be taken home.”

Police warn of an increase in reports of ASB.

PCSO Laura has arranged a Community Contact Point outside Harts of Stur in Sturminster Newton tomorrow (Wednesday, December 24) between 10am and 11am.

People are encouraged to pop along and speak to Laura about any issues they wish to raise with police.
