Police investigate suspicious activity outside schools

POLICE are investigating reports of suspicious activity outside schools in Dorchester and have reassured the community that measures are in place to keep children safe.

Since Monday, November 17, officers have received accounts of a man acting suspiciously in areas including Marie Road, Coburg Road and Gloucester Road.

Allegations include shouting at school children, taking photographs and other unusual behaviour.

Descriptions of the individual vary, and police are working to establish whether these reports relate to the same person and to determine their intentions.

In response, Dorset Police are conducting a full investigation and liaising with local schools.

Members of the neighbourhood policing team have increased their presence at the start and end of the school day to provide reassurance and monitor activity.

Police are urging the public to avoid speculation or sharing unverified information online. Anyone with information or concerns is encouraged to approach officers directly, contact Dorset Police online, or call 101, quoting occurrence number 55250177614. If a crime is in progress, dial 999 immediately.
