Police get baby GOATS stolen from West Dorset property back to their owner

POLICE have reunited two GOATS – stolen from a West Dorset property – with their owner.

Margoat and Robbie, two eight-month-old pygmy goats, were taken from a property in the Marshwood area at around 9.55pm on Thursday (January 11).

Now, following a prompt investigation by members of Dorset Police’s Rural Crime Team, they have been reunited with their owner, Alice, and are recouperating back at home.

With the help of Avon & Somerset Police, officers found the goats at an address in Yeovil.

“I am so grateful to have Margoat and Robbie back,” Alice said. “They are our family pets and mean everything. Thank you to everyone who made it possible. I can’t thank you enough.”

PC Sebastian Haggett, from the Dorset Rural Crime Team, said: “I am over the moon we have managed to recover these goats however we still need the public’s help.

“Did you see anything suspicious at 10pm on Thursday, January 11, in the Marshwood area?

“Please help share this appeal and let’s bring these people to justice. Pet theft is completely unacceptable.”

It is reported two men driving a 4×4 vehicle were behaving in a suspicious manner around the stables of the property shortly before the offence.

Police Community Support Officer Mike Sinnick, of the Dorset Police Rural Crime Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the goats being stolen to please contact us.

“I also wish to identify the owners of the above-mentioned vehicle sighted in the area at the time and speak to them as they may be able to assist my investigation.

“In addition to this, I am reaching out to residents in the area to please check their home CCTV cameras to see if they have captured anything that may help us identify the vehicle and its owners.”
