Plan for four new homes in Marnhull submitted

PLANS for four new homes in Marnhull have been submitted.

The scheme, on land at Westward Farm, in Nash Lane, would see a barn demolished and replaced with the dwellings, along with associated parking and amenities.

It has been submitted by Symonds & Sampson on behalf of Mr and Mrs Allard.

The application comes after previous bids for housing in the area were rejected in the mid-1990s.

“The site itself sits on the east side of Nash Lane and forms part of the wider Westward Farm,” the application said.

“The site is a rectangular parcel of land which gently slopes from north to south. It is 0.241ha in size. It consists of agricultural land as well as agricultural buildings and a silo.”

A new access would be created off Nash Lane, the plan said, to the south side of the site.

“The site is bounded to the west by an existing mature hedgerow with residential development on the opposite side of Nash Lane,” it added.

“To the south lies the property known as Spring Barn. To the east and north are existing barns and agricultural land.

“The existing barn is a single storey with sheet metal cladding. The character of the surrounding area is quite diverse with a mix of bungalows and two-storey properties along Nash Lane.

“Plowmans Close, Ashley Road and Hardy Close are predominantly bungalows although many appear to be chalet bungalows (rooms in the roof).

“Pillwell has more two storey dwellings. The palette of materials is equally diverse with a mix of natural stone, red brick and render.”
