A DOMINO’S pizza takeaway could be opening in Gillingham.
A plan has been submitted to change the use of Sydenham House, in the High Street, to a ‘hot food takeaway’.
The building was formerly home to a branch of TSB, which closed in June this year. It has been vacant since.
The application, to Dorset Council, says: “The unit is intended to be occupied by Domino’s once all necessary consents are in place.
“The planning application also seeks permission for facilitating works to the shopfront, and to provide extraction and ventilation equipment to serve the proposed use.”
Alterations to the building include the installation of a new entrance.
“External alterations will include new manual opening entrance doors on the southern elevation,” the application says.
“These are proposed in place of the existing entrance door. Paint will be applied to the other parts of the shopfront to match.”
Opening hours for the proposed takeaway would be between 11am and 11pm, the plan adds, creating a number of full- and part-time jobs, the application – submitted by Pegasus Group on behalf of Third State Pizza Limited – adds.
A self-contained unit, accessed from School Lane, is demarcated on the proposed ground floor plan and does not form part of the planning application.
“Servicing will take place from the car park located to the rear of the building which is included within the site and includes approximately five car parking spaces,” the document says.
“Refuse will be stored externally in commercial bins stored to the rear and adjacent to the western elevation.
“Bins will be collected from the Site at a frequency to suit the needs of the occupier.”
Gillingham Town Council will discuss the application at a meeting of the Planning Committee on November 28, from 7.30pm at the Town Hall, before it is considered by Dorset Council planners.
