PICTURES: Youngsters tug heart strings for Stur art competition

CHILDREN were urged to to draw their vision of ‘home’ for an art competition – and the entries warmed the hearts of judges.

Chaffers Estate Agents in Sturminster Newton launched the contest, for young people aged between four and 11, as part of the town’s Art Week.

“As this was the first time that we have organised an event of this nature, we were unsure as to how may entries we would receive, but we needn’t have worried,” said Rachel Revell, general manager at Chaffers.

“We were thrilled with the response and the quality of the children’s interpretations and there were many detailed and thoughtful entries to judge.”

Among the prize winners was Charlotte, who drew a beautiful picture of her dog, who sadly passed away last year.

She said he “made her house feel like a home”.

Artistic Evie, meanwhile, worked on the theme, ‘home is where the heart is’.

Chaffers said feedback from the children and their parents ‘was very positive’.

“Congratulations to Evie, Charlotte, Alex, Max, Maya and Eddie for their beautiful contributions and all the talented young artist who took time to participate this year,” Rachel added.
