A BUILDING in Maiden Newton was badly damaged – and could be unstable – after a fire last night (January 14).
Firefighters were called to the property, in Cattistock Road, at around 10.45pm.
A crew from Dorchester and one from Maiden Newton were sent to the scene and found the building was “well alight”.
“A further pump was requested alongside two water carriers, an Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) and its nursery pump,” a Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“These came from Dorchester, Bridport and Yeovil.
“The fire was quickly brought under control, however due to its location and access it took some time to extinguish, so a relief crew were requested to monitor the property from 4am onwards.”
They said the incident will be reinspected today (January 15), with Dorset Council also informed “as there are concerns regarding the stability of the building”.
“Please remain clear of the area due to the dangerous state of the building,” the spokesperson.

Often passed this interesting building travelling back from work, observing it’s gradual decline and hoped someone would take it on before it was too late……….
