Man due in court over fatal crash near Dorset village school

A MAN is due to appear in court in connection with a fatal crash in Hazelbury Bryan.

Police received a report at 3.29pm on Wednesday, October 20, last year of a collision near Hazelbury Bryan Primary School, in Thickthorn Lane, involving an articulated lorry and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 70s, was flown to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Sadly, he died in hospital on Thursday, November 4.

A 64-year-old man from Bruton in Somerset was arrested in connection with the incident.

Now, following a detailed investigation by the traffic unit, he has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 20, for an offence of causing death by careless driving.
