A MAN is due in court charged with causing serious injury through dangerous driving after a woman in her 80s was hit by a car in Dorchester.
The 72-year-old has been issued with a postal requisition to attend court after an incident in Bridport Road, near the junction with Williams Avenue, at around 6pm on November 11 last year.
Police said a car – a blue Skoda Enyaq – and a pedestrian collided, with the woman left with “serious injuries”.
“It was reported that the driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and made off in the direction of Poundbury,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.
“Following an appeal and enquiries by officers of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, a 72-year-old man from Dorchester came forward and was subsequently issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on June 11 for an offence of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop after a road accident.”
