Man crashed into unmarked police car near Sturminster Marshall

A MAN has been arrested after he crashed into an unmarked police car near Sturminster Marshall.

A white BMW and the unmarked car crashed on the A31 between Stag Gate and the Roundhouse Roundabout just before 9.30pm yesterday (September 29).

The road was closed to allow emergency services to attend the scene.

A police officer was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not described as life-threatening or life-changing and he has since been released from hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

The driver of the BMW – a 35-year-old man – was arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

Wiltshire Police is now appealing to the public to help the investigation and it is encouraging people who may have witnessed the crash to get in touch.

Police Sergeant Mike Burt, of the serious collision investigation team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into the collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
