A MAN has been charged in connection with an alleged assault in Sturminster Newton.

Police were called to reports of an incident in Stour View Close at around 10.15pm last Wednesday (February 7) where a woman had been assaulted by a man who was known to her.

The incident continued in the areas of Honeymead Lane and Field Close, police added.

Officers attended the scene and the woman, aged in her 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries.

A man aged in his 30s was arrested and was subsequently charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (February 10) and is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, March 14.
