Man charged after car stolen in Shaftesbury

A WILTSHIRE man has been charged after police officers were led in a chase with a stolen car in Shaftesbury.

A car was reportedly stolen from the Tesco petrol station in Christy’s Lane at around 6.20pm yesterday (August 28).

Neighbourhood police officers were quick to arrive at the scene to locate the stolen car.

Dorset Police said the car then failed to stop for officers in Grosvenor Road and the occupants fled the scene.

Officers then arrested a 22-year-old man and he was subsequently charged with aggravated vehicle taking, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving whilst disqualified, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance, failing to stop when required by a constable and possession of a controlled drug of class A.

He is set to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 12.
