SHAFTESBURY is set to see an increased police presence after a man was sent to hospital following an attack by a group of men yesterday (August 20).
Police said they were made aware that a man had been assaulted by a group of men known to him in the Magdalene Lane area of the town just before 11am.
One of the men was reportedly in possession of a hammer.
But by the time officers arrived at the scene, the group of men had dispersed, and no arrests have been made.

“The victim was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening or life-changing,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.
They added: “There will be an increased police presence in the area as enquiries continue.”
The attack comes a week after armed police stormed the town after receiving reports that two men who were in possession of a knife, tried to force entry to a property on August 14.
