SEVERAL Dorset residents have been celebrated in the King’s New Year Honours for their outstanding contributions to their communities, public service and local industries.
Professor Suzanne Rastrick OBE, chief allied health professions officer at NHS England from Shaftesbury, was awarded a CBE for her work supporting allied health professionals and the social housing sector.
Simon Boyd, managing director of John Reid and Sons Limited (REIDSteel) in Christchurch, received an OBE for his contributions to British steel manufacturing and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.

Another OBE recipient included Andrew Scraggs, Royal Navy Logistics Commodities team leader from Verwood, recognised for his service to defence.
Louise Fetigan, founder of Little Troopers, was honoured with an MBE for her work supporting young people in Wareham.

Major (Retd) John Douglas Gaye also received an MBE for his contributions to the Sturminster Newton community.
He has been a long-standing trustee of the Dorset Wildlife Trust and developed a desire for conservation and wildlife during his 20 years in the Army, serving with the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment.
Former councillor and chair of Stourpaine Parish Council Alastair Norman was recognised with an BME for his services to the community, while Andrew Dewhurst, co-founder of the Barking Badgers Cycling Club, also received a medal for his charitable work in Christchurch.
