Kitt Hill in Sherborne to full re-open – 12 months after building damaged

TROUBLESOME Kitt Hill in Sherborne is set to fully re-open to traffic more than a year after a wall was damaged in a crash.

Residents have had to endure months of ‘temporary’ traffic lights due to the wall being fenced off, awaiting repair work.

Sherborne MP, Chris Loder (Con, West Dorset), was among those to welcome news it is to re-open fully tomorrow (April 6).

“The work is done and is now in the hands of the Council to open the road,” he said.

It is understood a lorry crashed into the wall of a property next to the road in February last year.

Since the crash, negotiations have been taking place between the property owners, Dorset Council, insurers and others, leading to delays in the work being carried out and the route fully re-opening.

It became a running joke for residents, who even wished the scene a happy birthday 12 months on from the crash.
