COMMUNITY groups in Sturminster Newton only have a few weeks left to apply for grants of up to £750.

The closing date for applications is January 16, and the town council will make its final decision at a full council meeting on February 4.

In recent years, the grants scheme has supported several projects in the town including printing panto programmes for Sturminster Newton Amateur Dramatics Society and helping develop crafting activities at Tots’n’Toast.

Prior funding has also allowed Sturminster Newton Football Club youth section to acquire new goal posts and Read Easy to purchase books to support learners in improving their reading skills.

The council said: “If your group is making a positive difference locally, we encourage you to apply.”
