A RETIRED Dorset farmer is going above and beyond to raise money for a cause close to his heart.
72-year-old Dave Selby and his daughter Racheal Birley will set off from the most southern point of Dorset, Portland Bill before finishing at the most northern point at Bourton Village.
The duo set themselves the 50-mile walking challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
They will start their trek next Saturday (September 13) and aim to finish on September 16.
Dave farmed in Twyford before moving to Gillingham.
“We’ve probably all been affected by cancer in one way or another, so we just wanted to do our bit and help where we can by raising as much money as possible, £2,000 is our target,” Dave said.

“Any donations would be gratefully received.”
The pair have so far raised £1,440.
He added that the pair wouldn’t be able to complete the challenge without the support from their family.
“My wife Jackie will be joining us throughout as much of this journey as she can, alongside out other daughter Hayley and her three children, Lily age 10, Evie age nine and Jack age six.
“Lastly but not least my son Harry who will be supporting whilst being 100 percent committed to his dairy farm. He will be providing us bed and breakfast on route, as we will be passing very closely to his farm.”
