Get your car washed this weekend – and raise cash for charity

A CAR wash is being held at Tisbury fire station on Saturday (March 30) in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.

The event will run from 10am to 2pm at the premises, on The Avenue, with firefighters washing vehicles in return for donations.

Station commander, Sarah Wheeler, said: “The Fire Fighters Charity looks after everyone in the fire and rescue service, but they rely on fundraising to do this.

“We’re hoping to raise as much money as possible with this car wash, especially as it’s the Easter weekend.”

She added: “It’s also a chance to have a chat with us about being an on-call firefighter in Tisbury.

“We’re holding a couple of recruitment events at the end of April, so if you’re interested in helping the local community and earning some extra money, come and see us.”

The Fire Fighters Charity provides rehabilitation, recuperation and mental health support to all current and retired members of the fire and rescue service in the UK. For more information, log on to www.firefighterscharity.org.uk.
