FootActive staff raise money for Cancer Research

STAFF at Wincanton insole distributor FootActive put their best feet forward to raise much-needed cash for a cancer charity.

The orthotic and lifestyle insole distributor took its fundraising for Cancer Research UK past the £1,000 mark, following the second year of its popular sale of excess and resalable returned warehouse stock.
Led by warehouse supervisor Lynne Switzer and packing operative Laura-Jane Smith, 100 per cent of the proceeds were donated to the world’s largest independent cancer research organisation.

After holding three events over the course of 2022, the pair have raised another £499.50 for Cancer Research UK, which comes after raising £553.50 in 2021, the first year of running the initiative.

Lynne said: “Sadly, I lost two people I cared about to cancer last year and I really wanted a project I could throw myself into and raise funds for a charity that is close to my heart.
“The work Cancer Research UK does is invaluable – both for patients and for loved ones – and I’m so pleased by how FootActive and the community have supported this initiative.”
Will Munro, FootActive’s chief operating officer, said: “Both Lynne and Laura-Jane have found a fantastic way of utilising stock that would otherwise be thrown out and we couldn’t be prouder of the work they continue to do to raise money for Cancer Research UK.”

The company will be continuing to raise funds for the charity during 2023, with its next excess stock sale being held in the spring.
