Extreme flooding forces bus service to miss Blandford town centre

FLOODING in parts of Dorset has led to disruption on a key bus route with passengers warned of changes to services in Blandford.

Damory has confirmed that its Q8 service is currently unable to serve Blandford town centre, as access via East Street is blocked due to flooding.

The bus operator said that while the centre cannot be reached, the service will continue to stop at Rosebank Lane in Blandford and at Tesco Blandford St Mary.

Damory operates a number of scheduled bus services across West Dorset, including routes linking Salisbury, Blandford, Dorchester and Weymouth, and the company has advised passengers to take note of the temporary changes when planning their journeys.

The disruption comes amid widespread flooding across Dorset following Storm Chandra and heavy rainfall throughout January, with several roads affected and travel conditions remaining challenging in some areas.

Passengers are advised to allow extra time for travel and to check for further updates before setting out.
