RUNNERS in the Blackmore Vale are being encouraged to help blow those New Year cobwebs away by taking on a half marathon.
The hugely popular Blackmore Vale Half Marathon (BVHM) is taking place on February 1 at 11am at Bishops Caundle Recreation Ground.
The annual event, organised by the Blackmore Vale Lions Club (BVLC), draws hundreds of people from across the Vale and beyond.
The course will take runners along quiet country roads with a stretch on a B road.

A 5.75 mile fun run is also taking place. Race HQ is in the Village Hall, Holt Lane, Bishop’s Caundle on the other side of the A3060.
Organisers said: “The course is the usual one and we hope it stays dry this year. Our major charities this year are Prostate Cancer related but there will be other local good causes.
“BVLC are always looking to help with this and any of our other activities. If you want to help please contact Tim Otter on 07748 090802 or the contact form on either of the websites: for the BVHM https://bvlhm.yolasite.com/ or BVLC https://bvlions.yolasite.com/ which has details of the club. We would love to see you.“
To enter, visit the BVHM website to register online or by post. Alternatively people can visit https://englandathletics.sport80.com/public/wizard/e/28524.
They added: “The race limit is 450 and entries close at 2pm on January 30 or once 250 runners have signed up.”
Runners must be 18 on February 1 to take part.
