Dorset village cricket club bids to expand pavilion

A SUCCESSFULL Dorset village cricket club is bidding to expand facilities.

Martinstown Cricket Club has applied to Dorset Council for permission to extend its pavilion on land near Ashton Farm.

The application details plans to: replace the main roof covering with natural slate; build to flat-roofed extensions to the main pavilion; replace an external store with two internal spaces; enhance viewing areas, the lounge and kitchen; and install solar panels on the main roof.

Extensions would “enhance the home and away team changing, sanitary and washing facilities”, the application said.

It added: “Martinstown Cricket Club (is) an ambitious club, that wishes to best serve the needs and requirements of all members of the general public, including those with disabilities, to ensure that all are engaged in a sport that they love and are encouraged to flourish in.”
