AN on-call firefighter who dedicated 18 years of his life to Sturminster Newton Fire Station has been honoured for his service.

Ian Goddard was welcomed back to the fire station last night (February 11) where the station commander presented him with a certificate of service and a Dorset Fire and Rescue plaque in recognition of his commitment.

“Ian provided invaluable cover both from home and work, playing a crucial role in protecting our community,” a spokesperson for the fire station said.

“His dedication and service have left a lasting impact on our team.”

They added: “Thank you, Ian, for your years of service and for being a valued part of our fire service family!”
