DCH chemotherapy unit re-opens after £2 million transformation

THE chemotherapy unit at Dorset County Hospital (DCH) has re-opened following a £2 million improvement project.

Patients at the Fortuneswell Unit at the Dorchester hospital will now undergo their treatment in a vastly-improved area, complete with new facilities including more space, a courtyard area and bespoke artwork.

“The layout has been reconfigured to provide more space for patients, and a new outdoor courtyard area has been created,” a DCH spokesperson said.

“It also features artwork by local artist Bethan Venn. Her custom-designed prints aim to bring the outside in for patients on the unit.

The refurbishment was carried out by LST Projects, jointly funded by the DCH Trust and money raised through the Dorset County Hospital Charity’s Chemotherapy Appeal, which included major support from the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust, charitable trusts and the community.
