Fire crews tackle blaze at Sturminster Newton industrial estate

A FIRE broke out in drying machinery at a Sturminster Newton industrial unit this morning (May 2).

Crews from Shaftesbury and Blandford were sent to the scene, on the Butts Pond Industrial Estate, at around 9.26am.

“Crews used a hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, which involved a heating element in drying machinery,” a Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“Firefighters used small tools and gas monitors to check that the fire was fully out.”
