A TEENAGE footballer from Sherborne is being praised for her courage and resilience after a serious on-pitch incident led to both land and air ambulance crews being called out.
Lily, who plays for Sherborne Town Ladies Youth under-15s team, was injured during a match this week and required urgent medical attention at the scene before being taken to hospital.
She is now receiving care and is preparing for surgery in the coming days.
The club said Lily is in good spirits and is being well looked after, surrounded by her family.
Messages of support have poured in from across the local football community, including Bournemouth Sports Lionesses, Hutton Football Club, Gillingham Town Youth FC U13 girls and Milborne Port FC.

In a statement shared online, the club spoke of its pride in Lily’s bravery, adding that she will be supported throughout her recovery and welcomed back when she is ready to return.
Emergency services were thanked for their response, including Ian Richie Wessex, who provided support at the scene.
The incident has prompted an outpouring of goodwill from players, parents and supporters, with the club asking the wider community to keep Lily and her family in their thoughts over the coming weeks
