Cash stolen after ATM raid at Shaftesbury bank

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after cash was stolen from an ATM during a commercial burglary at a bank in Shaftesbury.

Officers were called at around 2am on Monday, June 8, following reports of an alarm sounding at the NatWest bank in The Commons.

Police attended the scene and found that entry had reportedly been forced into the building.

A quantity of cash was stolen from an ATM machine during the incident.

Detectives believe those involved left the area in a blue Volkswagen Golf and are now carrying out enquiries to trace the vehicle and identify the suspects.

Det Insp Ben Griffin, of Dorset County CID, said: “We have launched a full investigation into this incident and are carrying out detailed enquiries to identify those involved.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who may have captured relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to please contact us.”

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in The Commons area during the early hours of Monday morning or who spotted a blue Volkswagen Golf acting suspiciously nearby.
