Caravan removed from Shaftesbury site after court order

A CARAVAN has been moved from a Shaftesbury site after the owners were given 24 hours’ notice.

Earlier this week, magistrates in Poole approved a request from Dorset Council for permission to remove vehicles from a site at Orchid View, off Salisbury Road.

The order meant after giving 24 hours’ notice, any vehicles could be forcibly removed.

Now, a council spokesperson has confirmed a caravan has been moved by the owner.

“There had been a caravan parked in the road just outside the Orchid View New Age Traveller site for several months,” a spokesperson said.

“We asked the occupant to move their caravan (via a section 77 notice), but this was ignored.

“Therefore, we unfortunately had to go to court to get a section 78, which gives the occupant 24 hours’ notice to move their vehicle otherwise we will intervene to move it ourselves.

“The occupant has now moved the caravan from this location.”
