Blandford bypass closed after car catches fire

THE Blandford bypass is closed after a car caught fire this afternoon.

Fire crews from Blandford and Sturminster Newton were sent to the scene, on the A350 near the Glenmore Business Park, at just after 1.30pm after reports a vehicle had caught fire.

A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The car ignited and pulled over into a layby, where the driver thankfully exited unharmed, before it became fully ablaze.”

They said firefighters used a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze, with the road closed during the incident.
