Arrest made in case of stolen red cocker spaniel Gerry from Dorset property

AN arrest has been made in the case of red cocker spaniel Gerry – who was allegedly stolen from a kennel in West Dorset.

The dog was reportedly taken from a property in Hilfield at between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Wednesday, December 8.

Two days later (December 10), Gerry was found near Cerne Abbas and returned to his owners.

Now, Dorset Police have arrested a 34-year-old man from Poole on suspicion of theft. He remains in police custody.

Officers have also seized a vehicle in connection with the incident.

PC Chandler Organ, of Dorset Police’s Rural Crime Team, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries into this suspected theft and I would ask anyone who has any information that may assist our investigation to please get in touch.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed a white pickup truck acting suspiciously in the Hilfield area on the morning of Monday, December 8.”
