Arrest after car crashed into parked vehicles in Bridport

TWO people were seen fleeing a car after it hit others in a Bridport street.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident, in South Street, at around 2.20am on Sunday morning (May 19).

“It is reported that a gold Rover car came to stop after colliding with several parked cars and two men were seen running from the vehicle,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

A 28-year-old man from Bridport was later arrested and charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to report after a road accident, and driving when alcohol level is above the limit.

PC Shaun Elliott, of Dorchester police, said: “While someone has been charged for these offences, we are continuing to investigate this incident and full circumstances of how it occurred.

“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who were driving in the vicinity and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.”
