Armed police arrest pair after attempted knife-point break-in in Shaftesbury

ARMED police descended on Shaftesbury earlier this morning (August 14) following reports that two men tried to force entry to a property in the town.

Police said they received a report just before 9am this morning that two men, who were in possession of a knife, tried to force entry to an address in Ten Acres.

Armed officers attended the property and seized a knife following a search of the area.

A man and a woman found in the Anstee Road area were arrested in connection with the incident.

Both are in police custody.

Dorset Police believe it to be a targeted incident and said the area will see an increased police presence in the area as officers carry out enquiries.

A spokesperson said: “Following initial enquiries, we believe this was a targeted incident and there will be an increased police presence in the vicinity as officers conduct additional enquiries to understand what happened.

“Officers can be approached by members of the public with any questions or concerns.”
