A CRASH near Chicklade has caused long delays on the A303 this morning.

The busy route is ‘blocked’ in both directions around the A350 turn-off for Hindon after the incident.

It is understood to have occurred at around 6am with National Highways warning of “heavy traffic” as rush hour approaches.

Amid a number of incidents on Wiltshire roads, police in Calne posted a message warning drivers to be extra careful.

“We are dealing with five vehicle accidents due to the weather conditions this morning, please slow down and allow extra time for your journey,” the police spokesperson said.

“The A350 is busy at Lacock southbound due to a lorry shedding its load. Access to Chippernham from the Lackham roundabout is blocked. Please ensure your vehicle windows are clear and snow is removed from the roof of your vehicle.
