POLICE have stepped in to protect a vulnerable resident in Sturminster Newton following concerns about suspected exploitation and anti-social behaviour.
Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team attended an address in the town after receiving intelligence from the community suggesting possible “cuckooing” – where criminals take over the home of a vulnerable person.
When they arrived, several individuals were found at the property and were removed.
The tenant was identified as vulnerable and has since been safeguarded.
Police say they are now working closely with partner agencies to ensure the resident receives the right support and to prevent further exploitation.
The action forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour and protect those at risk.
Officers are continuing to urge the public to come forward with information, stressing that community intelligence plays a vital role in identifying issues like cuckooing.
Anyone with concerns is asked to contact police on 101 or via the online reporting system. In an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, people should always call 999.
