RESIDENTS in Gillingham are being urged to stay alert after a rogue trader allegedly posed as a charity worker to scam householders.
The incident was reported to have taken place at around 4pm on Saturday, April 11, at an address in Wyke Road.
Police say a man knocked at the property claiming to represent a charity and sold items at an inflated price.
It was later discovered by the victims that the charity did not exist.
The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build, with short blond hair.
He was wearing a grey tracksuit, carrying a large grey rucksack and spoke with a Midlands accent.
Officers are now appealing for anyone with information, or who may have experienced something similar, to come forward.
A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for information and urging residents to be vigilant following a reported rogue trader incident in Gillingham.

Residents are also urged not to rely on phone numbers provided by the caller, but instead independently verify any organisation.
