Arrest after alleged attack with a screwdriver in Dorset car park

A MAN has been arrested after an alleged assault with a screwdriver in a Dorchester car park, police said.

Officers are appealing for information after the victim, a man in his 30s, was assaulted in Bridport Road, near the junction with Hawthorne Road, some time between 10am and 11am on Monday (February 16).

“The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not life-threatening,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

A 45-year-old man from Dorchester has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody, they added.

Detective Sergeant Ben Turner, of Dorset County CID, said: “I understand that members of the public were in the area and intervened in the incident and I am asking them to please come forward.

“I am also keen to speak with anyone else who may have information or relevant footage to assist our investigation.”
