Dozens of Dorset schools closed amid weather warning and transport cancellation

DOZENS of Dorset schools are closed today (January 30) amid warnings of more bad weather across the south west.

In the aftermath of Storm Chandra, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for much of Devon and parts of Somerset.

However, on Thursday, Dorset Council announced it was cancelling all school transport for today, as more rainfall was predicted.

“This decision has not been made lightly, and we understand frustrations from parents, carers and school leaders,” a spokesperson said.

“But we have to consider whether the transport can safely take children to and from school.”
