EMERGENCY services were called to Gillingham in the early hours of New Year’s Eve after someone was reported on an embankment near the railway station.
Fire crews were alerted at around 3.10am on December 31 and attended the scene in Station Road to assist with a rescue operation.
A crew from Gillingham was joined by an aerial ladder platform from Yeovil and a specialist technical rescue team from Poole.
Due to the complexity of the incident and to ensure public safety, Station Road was closed while crews worked at the scene.
The operation concluded at 4.52am, at which point the person was transferred into the care of the ambulance service.
No further details about the individual’s condition were released.
The road was reopened once the emergency response was complete.
