TRAFFIC is backing up on the A303 after an incident near Mere.
Emergency services were sent to the scene, on the westbound carriageway, at around 4pm, it is understood.
Heavy rain has battered the region today (December 18), with traffic now delayed due to the incident, which has closed the route in that direction.
Travel Somerset said the route was due to close overnight tonight – from 8pm until 6am tomorrow – for electrical works.
