Vale school scoops award for environmental efforts

A WINCANTON school has been awarded an environmental accolade.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Primary School, part of the Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust, has been awarded the LiveSimply Award this term.

The award, administered by the international aid charity Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD), is given to schools who can demonstrate that they are living in solidarity with communities around the world experiencing poverty.

The school received the award after successfully implementing faith-inspired actions across the school that highlighted the importance of caring for people and the planet.

Members of the Pupil Eco Council took a leading role in developing how the school could live more simply and sustainably.
