Man assaulted – and motorbike stolen – as he waited in A303 layby near Mere

A MAN was assaulted – and a motorbike stolen from a trailer – as he rested in a layby on the A303.

The robbery occurred at around 4.30am on the morning of November 7, near Mere.

Police said the victim, a man in his 40s, was in his vehicle in a layby on Chaddenwick Hill when three people assaulted him and stole an orange KTM 250 motorbike with the registration plate RV71 NLM from the vehicle’s trailer.

“The offenders were travelling in a white Volvo with the registration plate BN62 ULD and they fled in the direction of Maiden Bradley,” a Wiltshire Police spokesperson added.

“Enquiries have been ongoing to identify those responsible and locate the bike.”
