A RALLYING call has been issued to the people of Stalbridge.
The town council is on the hunt for six new councillors to fill vacant seats, and it has now dipped its toes into video production as part of recruitment efforts.
The short film aims to inspire more people to get involved with helping to shape the town’s future.
With only five councillors currently in post, the council is urging residents and local workers to take the plunge.
While the role of a town councillor is unpaid, many find it a rewarding job as councillors get to have a direct say in the planning, financial operation and policies of the council while responding to residents concerns.
“The town is growing fast, and with our Future Town Vision Project, we need more hands on deck,” said vice chair councillor Paul Hancock.

Cllr Neil Penny said: “I’m keen to get a Neighbourhood Plan off the ground, but we can’t do it without more councillors and involvement from local residents.”
The film highlights the council’s work—from planning and public spaces to community wellbeing—and shows that being a councillor isn’t just about meetings.
“A lot of what we do makes a real difference,” said cllr Jan Wardell. “It’s rewarding and it’s for everyone.”
Chair Cllr Katie Garland said: “If you’re interested or curious to learn more, come for a chat— no pressure, no obligation. Just find out what it’s all about.”
