Caravan fire near Hazelbury Bryan

A STATIC caravan was destroyed in a fire in Mappowder.

Crews from Sturminster Newton Fire Station and Sherborne Fire Station were at the scene at 10.27pm today (February 7) where a caravan was “well alight”.

A spokesperson for Sturminster Newton Fire Station said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using a hose reel jet, working quickly to prevent further spread.

“Sherborne’s crew established a water supply, relaying from a nearby hydrant to ensure an effective response.

“Once the fire was under control, crews remained on scene to dampen down and check for hot spots, ensuring the fire was fully extinguished.”
