Girl forced into car in Wincanton still not found say police

POLICE are still trying to locate a girl who was reportedly seen to be forced into a car in Wincanton last week.

Avon and Somerset Police say they have not received any reports of a missing girl matching the victim’s description, but their enquiries continue.

Officers will continue to make increased patrols in the town following the incident, but they say the risk to the public is “believed to be low.”

Police say at around 10.30pm on November 12 a car was seen to follow a girl, believed to be in her mid-to-late-teens and around 5ft 5ins, near the junction of The Batch and Shadwell Lane.

The car’s driver then left the vehicle, chasing her along Shadwell Lane, before she was seen being forced into the car which was then driven off.

The man is described as white, aged in his early 20s, of medium build and slightly taller than the girl with light brown hair that fell below his ears.

The car is described as a dark-coloured, five-door hatchback and it is believed there were multiple people inside it at the time.

“We’re continuing to investigate a report of a girl being forced into a car in Wincanton last week,” a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said.

“Detectives have continued their enquiries over the weekend and into this week and remain keen to speak to anyone who has any information about what happened.

“There have been no reports of missing people in the area who match the description of the girl, and the risk to the public is believed to be low.

“However, neighbourhood officers are continuing to make extra reassurance patrols in the town. If you have any concerns, then please do speak to them.”
