SHAFTESBURY Christmas Market has been cancelled due to warnings of ‘extreme’ weather.
Organisers have called off the sale, which was planned for Sunday (December 18), amid forecasts of strong winds.
“The forecast predicts heavy winds with gusts of up to 39mph combined with heavy rain and a wind chill factor of below zero,” organiser, The Anonymous Travelling Market, said.
Despite the cancellation, they said a number of other events were still going ahead in the town.
“There will still be some shops open and we understand the Gillingham Crafts Craft Fair is still taking place inside the Town Hall,” they added.
“So there will still be some opportunities to get those final Christmas gifts and shop inside in the warm.”
Most of the traders who were due to be at the Christmas Market will be back for the Spring Market on Sunday, April 23, 2023, they said.
